October Snow!

Wow! It’s been over 30 years since we’ve seen an October snow, and this one dumped 6 or 7 inches on us.

It also caught all of us off-guard. Plowers in the area were left scrambling to get their equipment ready, and we didn’t have a plowing contract yet – that decision is scheduled for our meeting on November 2nd. A lesson to be learned here – awarding of the snow plow contract will now be moved to the October meeting  (we shouldn’t have to worry about a September snow).

Nevertheless, we’re very pleased that we could get a plowing crew in here, and one who did such a great job. More »

Man Tries to Abduct Boy in Quakertown

WARNING: The Quakertown Police are reporting that on Monday, October 17, 2011, a man tried to abduct a boy on his way home from school!

The suspect is described as a balding, white male between 40 – 50 years old with a handlebar mustache. The attempted abduction took place at North 2nd Street & Apple Alley. The man was driving a white SUV and called to the boy to get into the vehicle. Luckily, the boy used his head and ran away.

Now is the perfect time to talk to your children – make sure they understand how to stay safe every time they walk out that door! We have a lot of children which could make our community an attractive target to the wrong people. Let’s keep our children safe.

If you have any information about the attempted abduction, please call the Quakertown Police at 215-536-5002. If you see an individual matching the suspect’s description and cruising the area or stalking children, please call the Richland Township Police at 215-536-9500 immediately.

Remember, in an actual emergency call 9-1-1.

The Paving Trucks Are On The Way!

We are very happy to announce that the paving trucks are on the way to Quakers Green – finally!

Starting next week, on or about Wednesday, October 19th, the paving crew will begin to work their magic on our roads and courts. They are planning on starting with Johnson Lane and working their way around until they’ve visited every court. We are not sure how long this will take yet – it all depends on how smoothly the repairs go.

We first talked about this at the May meeting, so we know this took longer that any of us hoped – so much so that some of you probably began doubting this day would ever get here. I apologize for the delay, but we haven’t been sitting on our hands. There were several significant issues which had to be addressed.

Helpful Home-Selling Guides Available

Selling a home can be a headache … too many pieces to the puzzle. With home inspections, home warranty, settlement and all the paperwork that goes with it, you rely on your real estate agent & the settlement agent to walk you through the maze.

Selling a home in a planned community (like Quakers Green) adds even more pieces to the puzzle, and more headaches getting them in the right place. Again you’d rely on the real estate & settlement agents for guidance. Ideally of course, to get sound guidance, you really should have agents experienced in selling homes which are under the auspices of homeowners, property owners or condominium owners associations.

I don’t know about you, but I always lose track of when recycling day is. I never know till I see everyone else putting their containers out for collection.

Well, no more. In our sidebar to the right, you’ll find an automatically-updating section listing the month’s recycling days. I hope it helps.
